ICAR-National Institute of Research on Jute & Allied Fibre Technology, Kolkata organised a Farmers-Scientists Interface. Twenty one (21) farmers from Pukhuria Village, Chapra Block, Nadia District, West Bengal attended the interface.
Dr Gautam Ray, Director (Acting), ICAR-NIRJAFT stressed upon the importance of processing and value addition in jute and allied fibres.
Scientists from ICAR-NIRJAFT discussed the issues related to extraction, retting, grading, chemical processing and mechanization in jute and allied fibres. Farmers took keen interest in learning the latest developments in extractors, improved retting technologies & grading instruments.
