ICAR-CIFT celebrates its 65th Foundation Day

The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin, Kerala celebrated its 65th Foundation Day here today.

Delivering his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Pravin, ADG (Marine Fisheries) ICAR applauded the Institute’s remarkable accomplishments since its inception during 1957. Dr. Pravin urged the Institute’s Scientists and Staff Members for maintaining the status-quo in the fisheries research and development.

The Guests of Honor, Dr. K. Gopakumar, Former Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR and Former Directors - Dr. M.K. Mukundan and Dr. T.K. Srinivasa Gopal delivered the felicitation addresses.

Dr. Leela Edwin, Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin highlighted the Institute’s momentous contributions during the past few Years in the domain of the harvest and post-harvest fisheries. The significant research innovations evolved by the Institute during the period that include the technologies like Fuel-Efficient Deep Sea Fishing Vessels, Zero Fuel Solar & Pedal Boats for Inland Fisheries, combination of LNG & Diesel-based Fishing Vessel and Novel Nutraceuticals & Pharmaceutical Products from Fish Waste and seaweeds, etc., were underlined by Dr. Edwin.

Earlier, Dr. T.V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFT, delivered the welcome address.

Shri P.P. Anil Kumar, Senior Finance and Accounts Officer, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin proposed the vote of thanks.

The Foundation Day Programme registered participation by both the retired and serving staff members of the Institute along with fisheries stakeholders from the various parts of the State.
