ICAR-NBFGR traines Officers of the Department of Fisheries, Government of Madhya Pradesh on “Quality broodstock development using fish-milt cryobanking”

ICAR- National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow conducted a 5-day training-cum-capacity building programme on ‘Quality broodstock development using fish milt cryobanking’ during 12-16 June, 2023, for the benefit of the fisheries Officers of the Department of Fisheries, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR emphasized the vital role of cryopreservation techniques in developing quality broodstock and genetically diversified seeds for aquaculture, conservation and research in current climatic challenges.

ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and  Doordarshan Kendra, Worli (Mumbai) organized Agriculture and Fisheries Doordarshan Programme Advisory Workshop. The objective of this workshop was to identify and priorities the agricultural and fisheries programmes which can be broadcasted through Krishidarshan and Amchi Mati Amchi Manase programmes of Doordarshan for the benefit of farmers, fishermen, fisherwomen, farm women, youth and entrepreneurs during July-September, 2023.

One of the most popular mandarin varieties of India, ‘Darjeeling mandarin’ is slowly losing its past glory in domestic and international markets due to its low production in recent times. The production of oranges in the lower belts of the Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills has dropped significantly over the last few years and the farmers are preparing for alternative farming after orange trees have started dying in large numbers.
