The FAO/ICAR-CIFRI workshop on “Fish passage design at cross-river obstacles – experience from different countries, with potential relevance to India”, is being organised at ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Kolkata from 29th November 2017 – 1st December 2017.

ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam organized 2-1 day Winter School on “Advanced Technologies in Natural Resource Management to Mitigate Climate Change Impacts” from 9th - 29th November, 2017. The event was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA) and Informatics publishing Ltd. (J-Gate) jointly organized one-day training and awareness programme for Library Incharges and Nodal Officers, CeRA of ICAR Institutes and SAUs of Northern region.

A three-day programme on ‘Capacity Building of Home Science Experts’ was jointly organized by ICAR-ATARI, Pune and KVK, Jalna at Jalna during 27-29 November, 2017.

A Brainstorming Workshop on “Converting Extreme Rainfall Events into Opportunities” was organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Indian Society of Water Management (Odisha Chapter) at ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar on 22^nd November.

The Farmers’ FIRST initiative has been launched by ICAR to move beyond the production and productivity; to privilege the smallholder agriculture; and complex, diverse and risk prone realities of majority of the farmers through enhancing farmers-scientists interface. The acronym “Farmer FIRST” means the farmers’ Farm, Innovations, Resources, Science and Technology (FIRST). The basic concept is that the farmer will be in a centric role for research problem identification, prioritization, conduct of experiments and its management in farmers’ field conditions.

The Agri Business Incubation unit at ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad organised a one-day Enterprise Development Programme on 16-11-2017.

One-day sensitization training programme on PFMS for KVKs/SAUs and NGOs of Rajasthan and Haryana has been organised at ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur today.

ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack organized a “Rice Field Day and Farmers’ Meet” in Chundri village of Ghaghra block in Gumla district, Jharkhand on 3rd November, 2017 as an activity of the research initiative to fast spread of new NRRI varieties in various states. Over two hundred fifty farmers/farmwomen and about thirty senior officers of the state/central line departments like, Dept. of Agriculture, SAMETI, ATMA, NSC, BAU, local BDO, KVK and scientists of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack including its regional station at Hazaribag participated.

A 21 days ICAR Winter School on “Omic technologies and modern breeding approaches for conservation and productivity enhancement of indigenous cattle resources” (01-21 November, 2017) was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut by Dr. S. K. Singh, Project Director, ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, New Delhi.
