The ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad under the aegis of National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) organized a Workshop on “Prospects of Agricultural Education: Awareness among Higher Secondary School Administrators” today.
Smt. B. Jaya Prada Bai, District Intermediate Education Officer & Regional Joint Director, Hyderabad emphasized on the importance of the awareness programmes for the students to think beyond Engineering and Medicine streams, that is, Agriculture and Allied Sciences. Smt. Jaya also released a Flier of “ICAR-AIEEA - 2020” and a Booklet on “Career Opportunities in Agriculture and Allied Sectors” during the occasion.
Dr. S.K. Soam, CPI, NAHEP Project from ICAR-NAARM briefed about the objectives and activities of the NAHEP Project and its contribution to quality and relevance of agricultural education.
A Brainstorming Session on way forward for creating awareness was organized to develop such programmes for future.
The workshop was aimed to share and communicate among the principals, vice-principals, faculty on the prospects of agricultural education and the need for quality manpower to enable the 12th standard students to participate in the National Level Entrance Examination - AIEEA - 2020 (All Indian Entrance Examination for Admission). The examination will be conducted by the ICAR on 1st June, 2020.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Government Departments were also present during the occasion.
About 35 participants from 8 Higher Secondary Schools of Hyderabad and Faculties of ICAR-NAARM participated in the programme.
