ICAR - National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow organised a workshop on Fisheries Biotechnology & Genetic Improvement Programme in Aquaculture today at Chennai in collaboration with the Dept. of Biotechnology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.

Prof. Dr. M. Krishnan, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the program and shared insightful perspectives on the promising prospects of fisheries biotechnology and aquaculture improvement programs in India.

The experts sensitised the students and young researchers about the current research advancements and tools used in the field of fisheries biotechnology and genetic improvement programs in aquaculture.

The workshop facilitated numerous productive scientific exchanges between participants and resource persons.

The workshop culminated with a valedictory address delivered by Prof. Dr. T. Balasubramanian, Advisor, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai, highlighting the prospects of fisheries biotechnology in India.

A total of 350 students and research scholars participated in the workshop. Six scientists and academicians from esteemed institutions across the country served as resource persons.
