In a significant move toward integrating science, technology, academia, and management in the field of coastal agriculture and allied sectors, the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Goa a premier autonomous academic and business school, today. This partnership aims to enhance and transform agriculture management by fostering collaborative research, academic initiatives, and extension programmes.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, and Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director, GIM, in the presence of scientific teams from both institutions.
Dr Parveen Kumar emphasized that this collaboration marks a landmark achievement in addressing field-level management challenges in coastal agriculture, promoting technology transfer, and enhancing the effectiveness of impact assessments.
Key areas of focus include carbon credit and marketing, spatial econometrics, impact assessment in coastal agriculture, water resource management, ecosystem services valuation and payment mechanisms, market intelligence for crops, livestock and fisheries, women empowerment through rural livelihood enterprises and agro-eco-tourism, and capacity building for agri-entrepreneurship.
The scientific team from ICAR-CCARI was also present during the signing ceremony.
