Dr. M.L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) visited the ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad today.
During the visit, Dr. Jat interacted with the scientific, technical, and administrative staff of the Institute. He lauded the significant role played by ICAR-IIOR in advancing Indian oilseeds research and relevance of the technologies developed by the institute. He informed that achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds is the priority of government of India. He urged the scientists to work with the motto of serving the farmers, and in the best interests of the nation by address the major issues in oilseed crops. He called upon the scientists to work in collaboration with other institutes and all stakeholders working in the oilseed crops. He urged the scientists to set a goal for the institute and work out the outcomes, outputs, activities and identify the constraints in achieving the goal. He informed the house that the ICAR has rolled out the new policies on communication, data repository and management and women in agriculture and emphasized to work in alignment with the policies.

He stressed that Viksit Bharat can only be achieved by increasing the production and income of the farmers.
Earlier, Dr. R.K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOR showcased several innovative technologies, value-added products developed by the institute including bio-polymer technology and the products of the entrepreneurs and FPOs nurtured by the institute.
